For over 25 years, this event has taken over downtown and filled your favorite businesses with wonderful works of art. Make an evening of it and grab a bite to eat, shop, and gallery walk in beautiful downtown Iowa City!
The 2026 Downtown Fall Gallery Walk is Friday, October 2 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. This FREE event is open to everyone to enjoy a self-guided tour of shops, galleries, and museums that have featured artists and curated pieces of art.

AKAR/CLAY AKAR – Alea Mae: Our Own: Alea Mae in Clay
Wheel-thrown functional ceramics by Alea Mae, a member of the AKAR team, an Iowa City artist, and educator at the Iowa Ceramics Center. Each piece is high-fired in gas reduction, creating rich surfaces and subtle variations in color.

ArtiFactory – Jennifer Miller, Giselle Simón, Craig Kelchen, Suzanne Glémot, Chad Miller, Lexi Janizec and Barry Phipps : It’s a Fine Line. Seven Iowa artists explore themes of time, text, and linearity through their work in book arts, photography, handmade paper, printmaking, painting and drawing. Gallery Walk reception will feature linear music sets by DJ Barry Phipps and DE Kèmbrûlée AKA The RoboProf.

Public Space One – Sammie Correa: Conocimiento. This photographic installation explores Gloria Anzaldúa’s concept of conocimiento through archival research, constructed environments, and spatial storytelling, examining how inherited trauma, migration, ritual, and maternal memory move through bodies and domestic spaces.
r.s.v.p. – Brian Gotwals: Found Object Collage. My collages are an attempt to capture difference and depict it. The collections are from the random world and they are unique. When I arrange them, it is a deliberate act and I try to discover some path to random and to look for things never seen before.
Stanley Museum of Art: Thresholds: Poetry Launch with Pulitzer Finalist Robyn Schiff. To kick-off the Downtown Gallery Walk, the Stanley will launch the latest iteration of its Thresholds: Poetry series at 5 pm with a 45-minute presentation by American poet, Guggenheim Fellow, Pulitzer Prize finalist and Iowa Writers’ Workshop alum, Robyn Schiff. An excerpt of Schiff’s book-length poem, Information Desk: An Epic, offering a wry, ekphrastic meditation on art and museum life, will be featured on the lobby wall that visitors can enjoy following the talk. Enjoy refreshments and music in the lobby and head up to the galleries to explore the latest exhibitions on view.

After exploring the latest at the Stanley Museum of Art and the Main Library Gallery’s fresh installation featuring some of our duck collection, come discover even more ducks on display in Bird Hall! Join us at the Museum of Natural History on the 3rd floor of Macbride Hall for a stamp, our monthly Art & Write Night program, and birds galore.
Willow and Stock – Taylor Fowler: An Artist’s Extension: Acrylics, Pastels, and Collected Objects. My artwork is an extension of myself and my need to exist as an artist in a time where art and creativity is threatened by the world around us. I collect found objects as well as acrylic paint and oil pastels to use in my work. I take inspiration from anything and everything with the use of colorful symbols and figurative elements.
