National Scrabble Day celebrates the birth of the game’s creator, American architect Alfred Mosher Butts on April 13, 1899. He created the first version of the game in 1933, but it took until 1948 for the game to become the SCRABBLE game we know and love.

Join the Iowa City Public Library and The Iowa City Scrabble Club to celebrate National Scrabble Day with an afternoon of Scrabble play. All ages and skill levels are invited! Bring a board if you have one, but it’s not required – we’ll have extras.
