Lake Macbride State Park is Iowa's largest state park offering a variety of activities, including camping, hiking, fishing, swimming, and boating on the 940 acre lake. It is split into two units which are a northern unit four miles west of Solon and a southern unit located by 5th St. in Solon. You are sure to enjoy the beach on the north side that has refreshments and boat rentals. More than seven miles of hiking trails wind around the lake through the forest, alongside a restored Iowa prairie. You can camp in one of the two campgrounds. A modern campground is located in the northern unit and a non-modern campground can be found in the southern unit of the park. The lake does have a five mph speed limit for all boats year round.
