Hamburg Inn No. 2

214 North Linn Street
Iowa City, Iowa 52245 USA

For generations in Iowa City, The Hamburg Inn No. 2 has been our place for a meal after the game, for a presidential breakfast after a long night, for first dates and pieshakes, for finals week and bottomless cups of coffee, for homecomings and blue-plate specials. We reopened this fall to keep that history alive.

Hawkeyes travel from coast to coast to visit us. Hamburg Inn No. 2, one of Iowa's most famous restaurants, was featured in the Washington Post's "Great American Hamburger Debate," national public radio's program "All Things Considered" and Susan Stramburg's "Every Night at Five." The restaurant was a film location for Duck's Breath movie, Zadar, Cow from Hell." The Quad City Times states, "it's a piece of Americana." Former President Ronald Reagan visited "The Burg" in 1992 and former President Bill Clinton was a guest in 2003. We have been visited by many politicians and candidates and are a must "Meet the People Stop" for all campaigns. The Burg is the host of the original and only Official Iowa Coffee Bean Caucus (as featured on the television show "The West Wing" in 2005), helping to attract local, state, national and international interest to Iowa politics.
