Suicide Prevention Month is a time to raise awareness, offer hope, and connect individuals with lifesaving resources. CommUnity Crisis Services, a nonprofit based in Iowa City, is reminding Iowans that help is available 24/7 through its wide range of mental health programs.
As one of two organizations in the state answering the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in Iowa, CommUnity’s trained counselors provide immediate, compassionate support to anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts, a mental health crisis, or emotional distress. In addition, CommUnity operates Mobile Crisis Response, dispatching licensed mental health professionals directly to individuals and families in crisis throughout the community.
Beyond direct services, CommUnity empowers Iowans with tools to support one another. The organization offers free suicide prevention and intervention trainings, empowering community members to recognize the warning signs of suicide and confidently connect someone in need with help.
