International Seven-String Guitar Festival

On Friday, October 4, Dan Caraway and Oleg Timofeyev will present their grand show “Seven-String Guitar Museums on Wheels,” in which they will relate the whole history of the seven-string guitar from the 18th-century cittern to the two-necked variety. They will be supported by Festival’s guest, the Scottish virtuoso Jamie Akers and the beautiful Armenian soprano Margarita Parsamyan.
The concert on Saturday, October 5 will be centered on the mid–19th-century manuscript for guitar and piano, performed by Oleg Timofeyev and Mariya Akhadjanova. You will also hear more repertoire for guitar duet, guitar trio, and for voice and guitar.
Both concerts are at Zion Lutheran Church (310 N. Johnson St., Iowa City) at 7 pm. Tickets are $15 ($12 students and seniors).
