Native Iowan Carmon Slater grew up in Sigourney on a dairy farm where the farm, woods, and animals were a part of everyday life.
Carmon went to UofI as a music major, then changed to science, which he taught for many years, and loved connecting nature, art and science.
Carmon worked with many medium’s over the years, creating cloth through surface design techniques was his most prolific endeavor and making quilts has extended to the present time.
