Each summer, the bright yellow blooms of Iowa’s native prickly pear cactus are on full display at Bur Oak Land Trust’s Corriell Nature Preserve, and we want to share them with you!
Join us June 14-16 for a weekend full of all things Corriell Nature Preserve including an oxbow wetland, beaver dam, sedge meadow and of course, the cactus. All tours and activities are free and open to the public.
The preserve is about 25 miles east of Iowa City. Registration is required for the tours and bioblitz. If you are registering a group of people, email [email protected].
Friday, June 14:
Accessible tour by vehicle from 10 a.m. to noon
Evening tour from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 15:
Preserve open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Preserve maps available.
Bioblitz from 10 a.m. to noon – Science in action!
Sunday, June 16:
Walking tours from 10 a.m. to noon and 2-4 p.m.
For walking tours, be prepared to walk a couple of miles, bring your own water and snacks, and please pack out whatever you bring in. Restrooms will be available on site.
This preserve is accessible by permission only and not regularly open to the public. Bring your friends and family to check out this unique Iowa landscape!
