We’re closing down Dubuque Street for a community block party with live music, dancing, beverages, food trucks and games. Here’s all you need to know.
The five Ws
- Who: You! While the Street Dance is open to all ages and is family-friendly, the programming is not family-focused.
- What: An evening of dancing, food and music. Admission is free.
- Where: On Dubuque Street from Main Street to Front Street (between Reds Alehouse and J&A Tap and City Hall)
- When: Saturday, Aug. 23, from 5 to 10 p.m.
- Why: Send off summer in style!

| 5:00 p.m. | Gates open. Admission is free thanks to City Slate sponsors.
Please enter near the Dubuque and Front streets intersection. No coolers or outside alcoholic beverages allowed. |
| 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. | Alcoholic beverages available for purchase inside and outside Reds Alehouse, J&A Tap and in the City Hall parking lot.
Food available for purchase from Marco’s Grilled Cheese, El Azul,Poimen Bosco, Da Flava Unit, Stone Wall Brick Oven Pizza, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck, Crystal Sweets LLC, Reds Alehouse and J&A Tap. |

| 5:00 to 5:45 p.m. | Live music from Lily Schloss Lily, a North Liberty resident, won the 64th Iowa State Fair Bill Riley Talent Search in 2024. |
| 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. | Live music from Kevin Burt & Big Medicine For over 25 years, Kevin Burt has been electrifying audiences. A member of the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame, inducted in 2019, Burt’s career spans nearly three decades, during which he has become a celebrated figure in the blues community. Burt’s music is characterized by his powerful and soulful voice, often compared to artists like Bill Withers and Aaron Neville. |
| 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. | Live music from Punching Pandas The Punching Pandas is one of Iowa’s most celebrated party bands — winning every Battle of the Bands contest for the past ten years running. Having played all across the country, The Punching Pandas’ shows are always unique, interacting with the audience and playing hits from every decade and genre! |
| 10:00 p.m. | Event concludes. Guests may continue the fun at Reds Alehouse (open until midnight) or J&A Tap (open until 2 a.m.), but the street must be cleared. |
