Vocal Artists of Iowa (VAoI), a select choral ensemble made up primarily of music educators and professional singers from across the state, presents their spring concert program, “New Beginnings,” on Saturday, May 16 in Voxman Concert Hall at the University of Iowa and Sunday, May 17 at First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. Both performances begin at 4:00 PM.
The program reflects themes of renewal, possibility, and hope through a compelling collection of contemporary choral works. Highlights include Sarah Quartel’s luminous “Wide Open Spaces,” the inspiring and heartfelt “Choose Love” by Kyle Pederson, and “Alive” by Zachary Moore, performed with string quartet. The concert will also close with Joseph Martin’s powerful “The Awakening,” a work that celebrates the rediscovery of music and the human spirit.
We look forward to seeing you at these performances.
Vocal Artists of Iowa concerts do not require tickets. All are welcome. A free-will donation is appreciated.
