Our upscale, recycle event is like none other! This isn’t
just an event to update furniture, but rather a team
competition to repurpose furniture and raise funds for
the good of our community. We are teaming up with
Houses into Homes to repurpose donated furniture
into a self-declared decorator’s dream and having a
lot of fun in the process. Here’s how it will work:
• Create a team of project designers, choose a room
focus (living room, bedroom, dining/kitchen), and
register your team by June 15.
• Single project upcyclers also wanted. Register to fix
up a single piece for sale. Pick from inventory after
the team competition pick on July 11.
• Want a head start on furniture pick day? Ask neighbors, family, or friends to sponsor your team. Teams
will be ranked by amount of money raised by Pick
Your Pieces Day.
• July 11 l 6:00-9:00 p.m. l Pick Your Pieces Day
Teams will be allowed to enter the event warehouse
for a quick peak and then will pick pieces for your
dream upscale project. Team will also be able to get
started on their upcycle project as soon as they pull
their pieces from the warehouse inventory.
• July 12 l 5:00-9:00 p.m.
Event warehouse will be open for work.
• July 13 l 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Event warehouse will be open for work.
• July 14 l 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Set-up your “room” for auction and put on the final
touches.
• July 14 l 4:00-7:00 p.m. l Auction Event
Food, music, judging of the rooms and auctions.
Rooms will be judged and winners celebrated. Silent
and live auctions will be held. You could walk away
with a new “room” of furniture for a lower-level family room, a new bedroom, a new college apartment
or more. Or you could donate the “room” to Houses
Into Homes for some lucky family who needs a room
of furniture for their new home. Single upcycled
pieces also available for sale.
• Proceeds from the auction will support Houses into
Homes and the Coralville Parks and Recreation
scholarship fund to provide free swim lessons, youth
sports opportunities and other skill building classes
for youth.
