What year did you start at Think Iowa City? 2001

Favorite Iowa City area tradition: When the students return to campus each fall. There is an energy each new freshman class brings that you can almost feel. It’s refreshing and inspiring.

Working at Think Iowa City is special because: I’m surrounded by some of the best and brightest minds around.  Truly passionate, creative, impact leaders who love this community.

Walk up song: God’s Gonna Cut You Down by Johnny Cash has always been one of my favorite University of Iowa Wrestling walk out songs…so I will go with that.

What year did you start at Think Iowa City? 2007

Favorite Iowa City area tradition: Tailgating on Melrose Ave.

You can only eat at one restaurant in the area for the rest of time what would it be: Wig & Pen Flying Tomato pizza

A memory from living here: Going camping at Lake MacBride.  It always felt like I was going on a long vacation, but it was only a 15 minute drive from home.

What year did you start at Think Iowa City? 2017

A memory from living here: When I was growing up, my grandparents would gift my siblings and me each a show at Hancher for Christmas or a birthday. It was so fun to get dressed up and go on a fancy date with my grandma and grandpa. It made me feel so grown up and instilled a love of musicals, dance, and theatre in me. I can’t wait to do the same thing with my own daughter!

Can’t miss Iowa City area experiences: A cheeseburger from George’s, Big Grove’s patio, take in a Broadway show at Hancher Auditorium, and hang out with friends during Iowa City Downtown District’s Block Party or North Liberty’s Blues & BBQ

Working at Think Iowa City is special because: I grew up in Iowa City and have always been quick to share what a special place Iowa City is. Now, I get to help share our story with visitors and help create memories for our residents – I love what I do.

What year did you start at Think Iowa City? 2020

A memory from living here: The historic Dairy Queen on Riverside Drive in Iowa City turns into a Christmas tree lot in November. As a child, I would go with my there will my Dad to pick up our tree for that season and spend the afternoon decorating it with him. I now have now extended that tradition to my husband and two little boys.

Projects you have worked on that you’re proud of: Helping with the opening of the Xtream Arena, Shop JoCo Digital Gift Card, co-chairing Coralville’s sesquicentennial celebrations, creating the Fit & Flow Fitness Series.

Something fun about you: I love stepping inside a yoga studio as much as possible! It’s my favorite pastime and hobby outside of family and work. I drop into other studios every time I travel, and I’ve never found another that can compare to the caliber of teachers in the Iowa City area.

What year did you start at Think Iowa City? 2017

Can’t miss Iowa City area experiences? The Wave to the children in the hospital during an Iowa Football game at Kinnick Stadium. Pick apples at Wilson’s Orchard in the fall. Walk out to the “waterfall” at Lake Macbride. Partying at the Iowa City Downtown Block Party. Catch a show at FilmScene, Englert Theatre, and Riverside Theater.

Working at Think Iowa City is special because: Working at Think Iowa City is special because we are the center of all things fun in Johnson County.

Why you chose to stay in the Iowa City area: The Iowa City area has so many amenities that are perfect for raising a family. Arts, culture, athletics, you name it. We have it here and it is all at the top level. If you have to get away for a day or two, we are almost equidistant from 5 Midwest metropolis’s to visit…that will remind you of how great Iowa City is.

You can only eat at one restaurant in the area for the rest of time what would it be? Konomi (in the Iowa River Landing)

What is something fun about you? I live in a barn.

Working at Think Iowa City is special because: Everything we do centers around making Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty better places to live and visit.

A memory from living here: Storming the field at Kinnick Stadium when Iowa beat Penn State.

Projects you have worked on that you’re proud of: The 2023 FRYfest celebrating Herky’s 75th Birthday Bash.

Why you chose to stay in the Iowa City area: The community feels like home, there is always something to do, and the people here support one another!

What year did you start at Think Iowa City? 2022

You can only eat at one restaurant in the area for the rest of time what would it be: Hands down as to be Red’s. A great place to grab a drink with friends or bring out the family! They let you bring your furry friend to join you out on the patio, always a plus.

Why you chose to stay in the Iowa City area: I have chosen to stay in the Iowa City area because I love it. It is a great place to raise a family. There are so many exciting things to do with your family throughout our community. Something is always going on!

Projects you have worked on that you’re proud of: One recent project that I worked on was RAGBRAI L. It was such an amazing and learning experience for me! How are our community came together and accomplished the largest event in the state of Iowa was something I won’t forget.

You can only eat at one restaurant in the area for the rest of time what would it be: Hamburg Inn No. 2 has been a favorite of mine since childhood – the refreshed menu is great and the atmosphere in the restaurant is unmatched. You’ve gotta get a slice of their new French silk pie!

Why you chose to stay in the Iowa City area: I chose to stay in Iowa City because of how welcoming and engaged the community is – it’s a walkable area with fantastic bicycling and running trails and so, so many things to do on any night of the week.

Favorite Iowa City area tradition: UI Homecoming Parade, all the Festivals sponsored by Summer of the Arts, and other area communities in Johnson County. Love to volunteer with these events.

A memory from living here: Memories of watching our Johnson County grow and how we survive many challenges such as storms, floods, and political differences. We always manage to come back together for the good of the community.

Working at Think Iowa City is special because: I work with creative, kind, respectful, honest, hardworking, people who make our community a fun, and exciting place to visit.
