The beloved Holiday Thieves Market returns this December for its 57th year, inviting the community to kick off the holiday season with a showcase of fine art and creativity. Join us December 6–7, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Coralville Expo Hall for a festive weekend celebrating local and regional artists. As always, admission is FREE!
Event Details:
This long-standing holiday tradition features over 85 fine artists from across the Midwest and beyond, offering one-of-a-kind works in ceramics, digital, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood. Many participating artists have been part of the event for decades, continuing the spirit of creativity and community that defines the Holiday Thieves Market.
“Each year, the Holiday Thieves Market brings together creativity, community, and the joy of the season,” says Lisa Barnes, Executive Director of Summer of the Arts. “It’s a wonderful way to support artists, celebrate tradition, and find meaningful gifts made with care and craftsmanship.”
In addition to discovering unique, handcrafted gifts, attendees can participate in a Silent Auction benefiting Summer of the Arts programming, helping support free arts and cultural events throughout the Iowa City area.
Silent Auction Hours:
○ Saturday, December 6: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
○ Sunday, December 7: 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM
The 2025 Holiday Thieves Market will once again include a silent auction, but this year we will also be hosting that auction online. The auction will go live on November 21 and will end on December 7th, the last day of the Holiday Thieves Market, and will feature a variety of items—including sports tickets, fine art, gift packages, and more—donated by local businesses, artists, and community members. The auction items will be displayed on both days of the Holiday Thieves Market. All proceeds from this auction go towards funding Summer of the Arts free arts programming!
Winners will be notified when the silent auction closes on Sunday at 3:30 PM. Items can be picked up at the Hyatt from 4 to 7 PM, Sunday, Dec. 7 or arrange pickup at the Summer of the Arts office in Iowa City, December 8–12.
All proceeds from the silent auction directly support Summer of the Arts’ free programming. For more information about Summer of the Arts and its programs, visit www.summeroftheARTS.org.
