Spring is a welcome change after the cold and snowy winter months. It’s a time where our Curious Communities thrive in the outdoors. We have plenty of options for you to get out and enjoy that amazing sunshine!
Spend time exploring local parks by going on a walk or packing a picnic to enjoy. North Ridge Park, Hickory Hill Park, or Penn Meadows Park are local favorites among many others that worth your time. All our parks are perfect for the whole family and each offer their own unique possibilities.
Nice weather means patio season for our local bars and restaurants. Being outside while enjoying a good meal and an ice cold drink just really hits different. We have a great patio scene that spreads up and down our area. Downtown Iowa City has a plethora of options including the popular Pullman Bar & Diner and St. Burch Tavern. Head to Big Grove Brewery just south of downtown for a craft beer on their massive patio. The Iowa River Landing in Coralville is another great spot with several options including 30Hop, Vesta, and Backpocket Brewing. Don’t forget about Reds Alehouse in North Liberty!
We pride ourselves in having a very bicycle friendly community. Rent a bike from Sugar Bottom Bikes or bring your own for a ride on the Iowa River Corridor Trail, the area’s longest trail. Go off road in Coralville at Creekside Flow Trail or head to the country and hit some gravel roads that surround the city.
If you enjoy sporting events, attend a University of Iowa baseball or softball game at Duane Banks Field and Bob Pearl Field. The tennis team is also in season and hosts meets on the sports campus. It is a great way to cheer on the Hawkeyes while other sports are out of season.
