This fall’s One Community, One Book novel is An American Summer: Love and Death in Chicago by Alex Kotlowitz.
The increasing prevalence of gun violence in Chicago has taken thousands of lives and wounded many physically and emotionally. Kotlowitz’s perception-altering novel gives readers an opportunity to examine gun violence through different lenses and makes clear the tragic impact it leaves on many.
