About the program
A discussion of the Students for Fair Admissions v Harvard (2023) and Students for Fair Admissions v University of North Carolina (2023), Supreme Court decisions. The program is part of the Office of Equity and Human Rights monthly Lens Webinar Series. The Iowa City Senior Center is a co-sponsor of this program.
About the presenter
Mark Kende is the Director of the Drake Constitutional Law Center and the James Madison Chair Professor in Constitutional Law. He teaches Constitutional Law, Comparative Constitutionalism, and Civil Rights. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Paris II – Pantheon and at Notre Dame Law School. He was a Dean’s visiting scholar at Georgetown Law School. He also spent a year as a Senior Fulbright Scholar in South Africa. Professor Kende is the author of Constitutional Rights in Two Worlds: South Africa and the United States (Cambridge) and Comparative Constitutional Law: South African Cases and Materials in a Global Context (Carolina). He has authored articles and a book chapter on affirmative action. He is an elected fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a former Chair of the Association of American Law Schools Section on Constitutional Law. He practiced civil rights law in Chicago before entering academia.
