This free concert will feature a wide variety of musical selections by composers including William Owens, Douglas Richard, Eric Sheffler, Andrew Boysen, Jr., Karl King, James Curnow, Ryan Nowlin, John Mackey, C. L. Barnhouse, and Kevin Day. Conductors are Dr. Mark Heidel, Director of Bands at the University of Iowa, and M. Cory Schmitt, a DMA student in Wind Conducting at the University of Iowa. They will be joined by percussion soloist Dr. Nick Miller, Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Iowa, and guest conductor Kara Metzger, who is in her third year of the DMA Wind Conducting program. Dr. Gregory Hand, Professor of Organ at the University of Iowa, will perform a new arrangement by Kenneth Soper of Symphony No. 1 by Alexandre Guilmant on the stunning Klais organ.
