A curated month-long series of Oscar hopefuls and overlooked gems from 2021, featuring a handful of our biggest hits and a range of films we weren’t able to screen on release. All films open on a Friday and play for a week.
Week Three Films:
BELFAST – Written and directed by Academy Award nominee Kenneth Branagh, Belfast is the humorous, tender and intensely personal story of one boy’s childhood during the tumult of the late 1960s in the title city.
SUMMER OF SOUL – Over the course of six weeks during the summer of 1969, thousands of people attend the Harlem Cultural Festival of celebrate Black history, culture, music and fashion.
FAYA DAYI – A spiritual journey into the highlands of Harar, immersed in the rituals of khat, a leaf Sufi Muslims chewed for centuries for religious meditations – and Ethiopia’s most lucrative cash crop today.
PROCESSION – Six midwestern men — all survivors of childhood sexual assault at the hands of Catholic priests and clergy — come together to direct a drama therapy-inspired experiment designed to collectively work through their trauma.
