Home away from home! This place was a remarkable find. Christine and her husband are very personable Inn keepers that do an amazing job of making you feel more than welcome. I mentioned to Christine that I think we’d be close friends if I lived closer. if you want more than a typical hotel stay experience, this is the place for you. I spent a week at this Inn as I was visiting my son at college and it was perfect. Close to downtown Iowa City and the campus. I worked during my visit and it was a nice quiet place with good internet reception. I will definitely be returning during my future visits. 6 STARS!!!
This was our second time staying but our first time since the new owners took over in May. The website reservation system was easy to use, the checkin and out process was seamless. My husband was especially excited by the homemade chocolate chip cookies that were waiting when we arrived. The food was delicious without being overdone. The room was clean, as described online, and very comfortable. The owners were around and open to conversation but not pushy. Over all we had a wonderful experience and would come back again in a heartbeat.
The Brown Street Inn is beautiful and comfortable. Christine and Doug are friendly and helpful and made us feel right at home. They prepared delicious breakfast daily. We had homemade yogurt, fruit, granola, freshly-baked muffins, frittata, and french toast during our stay. They put out cookies warm from the oven every afternoon that are as good as they smell. The inn is on a quiet street with plenty of parking only a short drive to restaurants, shopping and UI. The rooms are lovely and cozy and we enjoyed relaxing on their big, shady porch. We will definitely stay here again.
I had a WONDERFUL stay at the Brown Street Inn! Mark and Bob were the most gracious hosts, the room was comfortable and adorable. I had a lovely walk around the neighborhood in the morning followed by a phenomenal breakfast. They are working on selling the place, so if you're in the area soon, don't miss your chance to take advantage of their hospitality!
I had a lovely stay at The Brown Street Inn. I came in as a guest of the university and the Inn is very close by. I had an easy time getting to campus as well as to my favorite Iowa City haunts--Prairie Lights and Bluebird Diner, among others. Christine and her family made me feel very welcome. And I really enjoyed her baked treats that were a part of the breakfast spread. I will absolutely stay here again.
