During the experience you will choose the container from a wide variety of jar colors\, blend your own fragrance from over 30 oils\, and will name your unique blend to take home and enjoy. To finish you can type up a custom label on our 1950s typewriter\, and practice trimming the candle wick. \nWe are so excited to be hosting Candle Pour Bar in our studio space in West Branch\, Iowa! With a focus on fostering community through our creativity\, this space is dedicated to providing workshops that allow you to learn a new artistic skill while having fun. This is a great activity to bring friends to or come to make some new friends! \nEvent will take approximately 2 hours. Please feel free to come about 5 minutes early to settle in. We are located in the old Opera House\, next to Elements Salon. You are welcome to bring in something to sip on or snack on\, and the local eateries on Main Street West Branch are wonderful choices to grab a bite to eat. The class will start at the listed time and pouring will take about 60 minutes. During the hour time frame candles are curing\, we invite guests to socialize and relax in our space. You are also welcome to stroll Main Street and visit the open shops\, as West Branch has some of the cutest places. \nSign up online prior to the event is required. DESCRIPTION:Come to our Free generative writing workshop this Sunday\, 5/19 at 5:30pm-7pm! All are welcome. \nCo-sponsored by PorchLight and Iowa City Poetry\, the Free Generative Writing Workshops provide a space for career writers\, curious beginners\, writers of all income levels and stages of life. Our goal is to make it easy to meet and learn from some of the most talented writer/teachers living in or passing through Iowa City. Every month a new writer leads a generative workshop\, presenting a prompt inspired by their own preoccupations\, passions\, or interests. It has been an adventure\, and we are continually inspired by the creative concentration of participants\, and the powerful beginnings the workshop generates. \nThis month’s leader: Grace Morse (she/her) is an essayist and New Orleanian earning her MFA in the Nonfiction Writing Program. She is fascinated by hybrid poetics\, a faithful practitioner of memoir\, and excited about finding new ways to write about the art that moves her. Grace is thankful for the recognition and awards she has received from various institutions\, such as the University of Iowa’s Council on Teaching and the Englert Theatre\, where she is the 2023-2024 Nonfiction Fellow. Her most recent essay is forthcoming in CRAFT this summer.
