DESCRIPTION:Join Doc Dash 5K 2026 on Saturday May 2nd! Hosted by Carver College of Medicine annually to raise funds for the Iowa City Free Medical & Dental Clinics and University of Iowa Mobile Clinic. \nDoc Dash is an annual 5k charity run/walk hosted by the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine since 1989! Beginning at the medical campus\, participants travel the course through nearby neighborhoods and the river trail before looping back to the finish line. Prior to the main event\, a shorter event for young children (dubbed ‘Docling Dash’) takes place in the courtyard of the Medical Education and Research Facility (MERF). This year’s race will be held on Saturday May 2nd starting at 8:30am. \nProceeds are donated to the Iowa City Free Medical and Dental Clinic and the University of Iowa Mobile Clinic. These Iowa City organizations provide services to underserved populations that are uninsured or under-insured. The clinics draw many of their volunteers from the College of Medicine and students of other healthcare disciplines\, including the Colleges of Physical Therapy and Pharmacy\, to aid in the training of future healthcare professionals. Your participation and support benefit not only people in the Iowa City community\, but also the future of healthcare in the state of Iowa and beyond. \nRegister to run and help us continue to provide medical care for those in need\, both in and around the Iowa City community!

Washington St. in downtown Iowa City. The market runs from May through October. We strive to serve all populations by providing access to fresh\, locally produced products. \n\n\n\nWhat to Know before You Visit\nPets – Animals are NOT allowed inside the first level of the parking ramp during the market. DESCRIPTION:IOWA CITY\, Iowa — The University of Iowa football team will hold an open practice presented by University of Iowa Health Care on Saturday\, April 25\, in Kinnick Stadium. The open practice will conclude Iowa’s spring drills and is free to attend. \nGates to Kinnick Stadium will open at 9:45 a.m. with practice scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. Fans will be able to enter select gates\, including Gates A (south end zone) B (southwest) and H (northwest). Regular season game-day search procedures will be in place and fans will be allowed to sit in the south and west stands. \nFree parking will be available on hard surface lots\, while normal ramp fees will be charged. Concession stands will be open at select locations on the concourse with limited menu items available. \nThe Hawkeyes open the 2026 season with three straight home games: Northern Illinois (Sept. 5)\, Iowa State (Sept. 12) and UNI (Sept. 19; Family Weekend). Other home contests inside Kinnick Stadium this fall include Ohio State (Oct. 3)\, Wisconsin (Oct. 31; Homecoming)\, Purdue (Nov. 14) and Nebraska (Nov. 27). \nQuestions concerning the purchase of 2026 football tickets\, including general public\, UI faculty/staff and UI student season tickets by current UI students\, should be directed to the UI Athletics Ticket Office. DESCRIPTION:Musicians in Coralville will have the opportunity to refresh their instruments and recycle used strings during free Restring & Recycle events at West Music on April 24–25. The events invite local musicians to bring in used strings from any brand\, have their instruments restrung with D’Addario® strings\, and recycle the old ones through Playback\, an instrument string recycling program created by D’Addario and powered by TerraCycle®. Customers are also encouraged to bring a $10+ cash donation to support UAY\, a local nonprofit providing music lessons\, rehearsal space\, and recording studio access to young people. Participating locations include: \nWest Music Coralville — 1212 5th Street\, Coralville\, IA — Friday\, April 24\, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM & Saturday\, April 25\, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM \n“West Music has always looked for ways to go above and beyond for our customers and our community\,” said Ryan Brondyke\, West Music. “Partnering with D’Addario on the Playback Restring and Recycle event lets us do both\, giving musicians fresh strings while making sure the old ones don’t end up in a landfill.” \nFor musicians\, replacing worn strings is part of maintaining sound quality and performance — but it also creates a surprising amount of waste. Industry estimates indicate that approximately 1.5 million pounds of musical instrument strings are discarded in the United States each year — equivalent to the weight of more than two and a half Statues of Liberty. \nThe event at West Music is among several taking place at music retailers nationwide throughout Earth Month\, giving musicians an easy way to recycle used strings while keeping their instruments performing at their best.\nPlayback\, an instrument string recycling program created by D’Addario and powered by TerraCycle\, gives musicians a responsible alternative to sending used strings to a landfill or incinerator. Once collected through the program\, the materials are recycled so they can be used again: metal strings are smelted into new alloys\, while nylon strings are recycled for industrial plastic applications.
